Target PC Build

Long time since I built my own PC, been with my iMac for quite some time... I am currently targeting the following specs (if I could sell my iMac):
  • ASUS P8Z68-V PRO + i7 2600k
  • OS HDD - WD Raptor 150G
  • Storage HDD - 2TB WD Black/ Green
  • Cache SSD - OCZ Vertex 3 60GB (SRT)
  • Casing - CM 912 HAF Advance
  • PSU - FSP 650W MODULAR 80+
  • RAM - Ripjaws 8GB 1600MHz CL9
  • VGA - Leadtek GTX 580
  • Monitor - Dell U2410
Main purpose of PC is for Photoshop + games, as well as a bit of future-proofing..
This will surely burn a hole no matter what.. IT people pls giv comments, I have not been involved with the current hardware stuff

  1. Bro, I couldn't do much review on it, its like Alienware but better and cheaper.
I am only skeptical about SSD caching and where still possible, data RAID+SSD Cache + OS in SSD.

    MB - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO + i7 2600k - $349 + $415 (HWZ verified)
    OS HDD - WD Raptor 150G - $165
    Storage HDD - 2TB WD Black/ Green - Black 2TB $208 Green - $115
    Cache SSD - OCZ Vertex 3 60GB (SRT) - $202.71 (via NICX.com), make sure its Vertex 3
    Casing - CM 912 HAF Advance - $150
    PSU - FSP 650W MODULAR 80+ -$124.94 (600W via NICX.com)
    RAM - Ripjaws 8GB 1600MHz CL9 - $81.81 (via NICX.com, wow serious?)
    VGA - Leadtek GTX 580 - $645 (ASUS Matrix GTX580 Platinum, $819)
    Monitor - Dell U2410 - $699

Chose Caviar Black over Green: from $3038 minimum, based on just online prices.

  2. Alienware so exp... only thing cool is their casing only... the rest...NAH!

SRT think only works where u use a HDD, paired with SSD for caching... and I dun think will use RAID 0... dun really fancy it...

The price is always changing right? but I needa sell off my mac 1st..
